Pups can play too!

Pups can Play Too

Bend Oregon is consistently ranked in top data charts as one of the most dog friendly cities in the US. Dog Fancy magazine named Bend the nation’s friendliest city and stated:

“ The City of Bend, Ore – a place where both work and play, ski and swim – claims the DogTown USA Title…Bend beckons dog owners with an abundance of pooch-included sports, activities and events”.

This isn’t a surprise to the locals. There are seven off-leash parks and during the winter dogs are welcome at the Wanoga Snow Play area and the Edison Sno-Parks. And with all the state and national parks, there are plenty of places for the pups to hike, swim and play. Both the Shevelin Park Loop and the Deschutes River Trail have off-leash trails and both trails wind along the river, so plenty of opportunities to cool off. If your dog prefers sprinklers over swimming, check out a solely dedicated spray park located at the Bob Wenger Memorial Off-Leash Area, which is a 14-acrea dog park located right in Bend.

Once playtime is over, take a stroll through Downtown Bend or the Old Mill District and your pet can enjoy conveniently placed water dishes en route to a restaurant with a pet-friendly patio area. There’s a total of 40+ restaurants in Bend that are dog friendly and most of the breweries are too. If there is an outdoor patio, most likely the venue is pet friendly. Many stores allow your pup and don’t forget to stop by a dog-specific bakery for a homemade treat!

Bend is famous for its dog centered events that take place during the summer and fall months. Join a marathon with your pooch or enroll your pup into a wiener dog racing event. With so many options, your pup will feel part of the family and enjoy their vacation too.
